dan And grace | the perfect micro wedding

an urban meets garden wedding

a beautiful diy wedding

2021 was an uncertain time for weddings and oh my goodness the emotion was high for each wedding I captured this year. I felt like there was a bigger sense of appreciation for the day.

The average cost of a wedding photographer shouldn’t be the first thing you put into Google when searching for a photographer to capture your wedding day. I fully understand, we all have a budget to work towards and when it comes to weddings, your budget has to be stretched across various wedding suppliers.  One tip from me is to write a list of those things you need to budget for and decide which is most important to you.  I’d like to think that photography is one of the things high up on your list and when popping “photographers near me” into your google search, you’ve come across my website.  Maybe you have seen me on instagram?

The photographer for your wedding day should be someone who “gets you” and someone you vibe with. For me, that’s a huge part of why I choose to capture weddings. I blooming love meeting new people and ultimately, you’ll become a pal.  I get overly excited when I see what outfit you have chosen to wear and I am yet to find someone that has a selected a wedding jump-suit or a wedding two piece (skirt and cropped kinda top) CUTE! You know the kinda ones I mean right? You’ve pinned them on your Pinterest board, haven’t you?  I dont think I’ll be able to contain myself the day that happens.

It’s safe to say I have “vibed” with every one of this years couples. From doing an excited dance together, to talking non stop about animals and being distracted by dogs (and cats). I honestly feel so lucky to be able to say my couples are friends. .

My favourite weddings have absolutely been the unplugged ones. What is an unplugged wedding? Its the kind of day where you tell your guests to put their phones away and be “present’. That’s when you feel the emotion more. Im telling you now, it’s beautiful and you won’t regret it. Plus, who honestly wants a million phones being pointed at you, and your photographer having to physically move your mum out of the aisle?  Yes people, that has actually happened. Be present at weddings!  If you are a guest at a wedding, put your phone down and allow yourself to be fully in the moment. Allow yourself to “feel”.  Allow yourself to enjoy the day.

Daniel and Grace got married on 7th August 2021. Their wedding was one of the most emotive ceremonies I have been too. I was welling up behind the camera and through the lens, I could see there was not a dry eye in the room.

Dan and Grace were recommended to me by Grace's amazing brother Sebastian. He knew I was the right person for them and he was not wrong. It's safe to say that Dan and Grace will always have a space in my heart because as a couple they have such an incredible bond and their family are absolutely wonderful.

I met them at Croydon Registry Office for their ceremony. With the covid restrictions being in place, we were unsure if I would be able to photograph the ceremony but I knocked on the door to the register office and was allowed in. The happy dance commenced. Greeted by the most elegant bride; Grace and her Dad, I captured moments between them that warmed my heart.

With an emotional ceremony and personal vowels read to one another, the wedding party headed outside for some group photos and a celebration. I had already discussed with Grace and Dan that we would do some urban style photos in Croydon and they put their trust into my work. Oh my goodness the images are just awesome.

Following group shots, myself, Grace and Dan headed to a park near to their parents for more couples photos and some nosessco! Greeted by the local gardeners (how sweet), we put on a playlist and utilised every part of the gardens.

Following this, I was welcomed into the home of Grace's parents for an intimate garden party. What a day! It's safe to say this was a gorgeous wedding and beautifully intimate. Grace and Dan, thank you for welcoming me into your families and thank you for allowing me to capture one of THE most beautiful days.

IT WAS THE PERFECT INTIMATE WEDDING.
