tunnels beaches wedding: A dreamy beach wedding for Caroline & Sam

If you are looking for a beach wedding venue then Tunnels Beaches will absolutely blow you away.

Beach wedding venue in Ilfracombe, North Devon

“We’re getting married at Tunnels Beaches, in Devon… you HAVE to see it. Its the most amazing venue and there might be seals”. Im taking you back to when Caroline spun around in her chair to tell me about her wedding day. “YOU HAVE TO BE THERE J’DOOR”. We then went into our usual rendition of “A Never Ending Story” making up most of the words apart from “TURN ARROUNNDDD”. That was it… I was booked and my dream wedding to shoot was just around the corner.
Mine and Caroline’s wedding client/wedding photographer relationship is slightly different to the usual ones because we were the greatest of friends before she even booked me. So being asked to capture her wedding day was a true blooming honour and actually bought us closer. Im scrolling through my WhatsApp messages now and have at least a million messages with “I need to ask you a wedding question…” from Caroline. Don’t get me wrong, the messages also include a million images of fluffy fur babies too.

I decided to turn the Tunnels Beaches wedding into a little holibobs for me and Guy, so I booked a gorgeous shepherds hut in the heart of a working farm (Benton View Shepherd Huts). Driving down from Guildford, Surrey we found ourselves in the gorgeous countryside and pulled up onto the farm where we were greeted by chickens, oh and Mandy!! Straight away, Mandy had us in the stables and gave us both a baby goat. I WAS SOLD. The most amazing few days followed which was a blooming beautiful build up to Caroline and Sam’s wedding. Guy and I headed to Tunnels the day before their wedding to get an idea of the venue size and seek out some photo opportunities. I dont often do venue visits, but in this case, I just had to see it.

The morning of the wedding, I sat in the middle of the chicken field to ground myself and get rid of some nerves… yep, even after shooting hundreds of weddings, I still get super nervous. I think I would worry if I didn’t have nerves to be fair. Guy kindly dropped me off to the venue and I headed in to be greeted by a very excited (and nervous) Caroline and her bridal party. Oh and then I met the wonderful videographer, Eric from Bigger Boat Film. It’s mega important for me to work well with suppliers so Eric and I had chatted over instagram to introduce ourselves and get an idea of how we both work.

What a blooming team we were!

The girlies were doing morning prep in the on site getting ready room and the boys were just across the road getting ready at one of the very retro hotels. If you are getting ready at Tunnels, just bare in mind the getting ready room is quite small so try and stick to the minimal approach if you can.

With the ceremony taking place outside, a keen eye was kept on the weather but we could not have asked for better weather. Imagine walking down the aisle, surrounded by the most spectacular views and a lush sea breeze. Imagine the sun beaming down on you and looking out to a private beach and the potential for seals to say hello. It’s fair to say that I was in paradise in the most unique, special venue that is Tunnels Beaches.

A confetti exit followed the “I DO’s” and the post wedding ceremony celebrations were held on the terrace with canapé’s, pims and beers. Absolutely LUSH. The best part for me was being able to capture the entire wedding party from the terrace whilst they were on the beach. Blooming perfect I have to say. Take a peek at the gorgeous group shots and beautiful sun beams that lit up those images. Oh and as if all of that wasn’t amazing enough, the wedding breakfast is served with views to die for. Tunnels have a natural pool which is formed when the tide goes out – that makes for EPIC photos, especially during golden hour.

Enough talking… lets allow the images to speak for themselves!!
