mel and dan: oxleze barn wedding

When I was asked to capture the wedding of Mel & Dan, I knew it was going to be a good one. Mel and I have a little bond as we worked together so she knew I was the girl to capture their wedding day. Plus, we share a love for small fluffy bears (animals) and I had no doubt that their wedding would involve animals of some kind. Oh they did not disappoint. I was SO blooming excited to be their wedding photographer, especially knowing it was a rustic barn wedding.

Autumnal oxleze barn wedding with cosy details

An autumnal wedding on a lush October day at Oxleze Barn. It could easily be mistaken for a late summers day thanks to the gorgeous sun beaming down on the guests. Are you feeling the warmth yet? Autumn was thoroughly felt in the details, including Mel’s blooming gorgeous block heeled, burnt orange wedding shoes alongside her unreal unstructured wedding bouquet by Corky Prince. Can we also just talk about the pure talent of Fi… she is a delight to work with, a pure inspiration and her florals are beyond beautiful. The floral chandelier blew me away and complimented Oxleze Barn SO well.

Oxleze Barn know how to do weddings

Now lets talk about Mel and Dan’s wedding venue; Oxleze Barn in the Cotswolds. Have you ever done a little excited jiggle when you see something you really love? Maybe its when you eat your favourite food? Well… to say I did an excited jiggle is an understatement. I drove up the gorgeous drive surrounded by fields, and knew I would be living my creative best life. Mel was getting ready in the Stable Cottage with her bridesmaids so after having a walk around with wedding co-ordinator and legend, Georgie from Georgina Rose Events (who is a legend by the way) I headed over to an incredibly calm Bride with her squad to capture those getting ready moments. One of my favourite parts about Oxleze Barn is that there are so many little gorgeous places for photos which, as a your wedding photographer, provides a variety of options throughout the day.

The hand fasting ceremony was held in the main barn of Oxleze Barn, with Mel’s mum as the celebrant. The wedding ceremony was super intimate and emotional. This was followed by a confetti exit into the courtyard ready for some reception drinks. Shout out to Georgie for reminding Mel & Dan to pause in the middle of their confetti walk for a little kiss… it adds that extra bit of “chefs kiss” to the image.

We completed the group shots in record time whilst the wedding guests enjoyed their drinks under the gorgeously warm sun then myself and the bridal party headed to one of the fields to capture something a little different. We had horses photo bombing and ducks shouting at us, but we couldn’t be happier.

Firepit time and s’mores

After a relaxed wedding breakfast and speeches that sent you down the rollercoaster of emotions, it was time for the perfect addition to any autumn wedding; a firepit and s’mores. A fantastic way to finish off a gorgeous day and the most wonderful end to your wedding photography. I am a sucker for anything like this as it fully brings those cosy, cute vibes and everyone loves that right? The party started with wedding entertainment and band, Ear Candy Oxford. Head over to their instagram and give them a listen guys, they were rocking.

Thank you so much to everyone at Oxleze Barn for looking after me so well.
